Jackie was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, moving away in her early twenties and finding California to be the most desirable place in the world to live. Never setting out to become a tax professional, her path just migrated that way and the pieces fell nicely into place. Jackie began college as a Math Major, but graduated with a degree in Sociology from the University of Texas at Arlington. Working as a cocktail waitress at a Victoria Station restaurant in Dallas
while completing her education, she witnessed her male co-workers being
invited into the management training program of the rapidly expanding
theme restaurant. She saw an opportunity to travel and boldly suggested
that women be accepted into the program . . . it wasn't long before Jackie
became the first woman manager and regional director of operations. She had maintained a solo tax and bookkeeping practice for many years when she decided to learn about investment services. She worked in a brokerage firm for five years, and then moved to a private investment firm in San Francisco as the director of financial education for the Bechtel retirement plan. She's currently a partner in Anspach Financial Group in San Rafael, where she splits her time between tax clients and financial planning engagements. As a fee-only financial planner, her focus is on the underserved "middle market" and helping them reach their financial goals and plan for retirement.
Shortly after joining CSEA in 1988, Jackie became Site Chair for the Chapter, finding the location for dinner meetings and all the details that went along that task. She has served on the North Bay Chapter board of directors several times as well as other Chapter and State committees. Besides her activity at the Chapter level, Jackie has twice chaired the CSEA Membership Committee, and she currently serves on the NAEA Affiliate Council. She was inducted into the North Bay Chapter's Hall of Fame in 1999. Be sure to take the opportunity to congratulate Jackie for the huge success of the recent Wine Country Seminar as well as thanking her for her ongoing volunteer contributions that have made our Chapter shine.
